Evolution of Rock
In this class we’ll study the evolution of Rock music from it’s earliest rumblings with Chuck Berry and Elvis, through each major era and on to the current day. We offer version of the class for Kids and adults!
For the first class each “Phase” of the class will consist of us learning 4-5 songs in each of the following times/artists:
Class 1: 1954 - 1972
1 - Early Rock and Roll – Chuck Berry, Elvis, Johnny Cash, Sun Records2 - Surf Music and Early Instrumental Rock - The Chantays, Dick Dale, Link Wray, Freddy King and the Ventures
3 - The Beatles Era 1 – music from 1963-1964 from the Beatles
4 - The British Invasion – The Who, Kinks, Rolling Stones and more British bands from the mid-early 1960’s
5 - The Summer of Love – Jefferson Airplane, Janis Joplin, The Byrds
6 - Beatles Era 2 – Revolver, Rubber Soul and Sgt Peppers
7 - Jimi Hendrix – 5 songs from 3 albums
8 - Early Hard Rock 1 – Steppenwolf, Cream, Iron Butterfly
9 - Led Zeppelin Era 1 – Zeppelin I, II and III albums.
10 - Early Hard Rock 2 – Black Sabbath, Deep Purple, Alice Cooper
11 - The Beatles Era 3 – The White Album, Abbey Road and more.
